Transitioning from smoking to vaping

Why should you quit smoking tobacco?

Quitting smoking requires a lifestyle change, it is a difficult process but the rewards to one’s health are substantial. The reasons for quitting cigarettes are obvious. Smoking can lead to severe health problems such as cancer, heart disease, stroke and lung diseases, to name a few. When someone quits smoking for a year the risk of coronary artery disease is reduced to half of a smoker’s risk. According to Beebe Healthcare, it’s the most preventable cause of death in the US.

Why transition to vaping?

Giving up cigarettes can be a challenging process, quitting cold turkey isn’t an option for many people who are habituated to smoking on a daily basis. Vaping products deliver nicotine in a less harmful way than smoking tobacco, it is the closest product that mimics the action of smoking without the harmful health consequences.

One of the biggest advantages of vaping is, it fulfills the cravings for nicotine many tobacco smokers have. It is one of the best ways to quit smoking as it does not contain tobacco, produce smoke or involve any sort of burning. Vapes do not contain most of the 7000 different harmful chemicals that can be found in tobacco smoke.

There have been many studies that indicate that using vaping devices dramatically reduces the health consequences associated with smoking tobacco. In the publication “Nicotine without smoke” it was stated that “in the interest of public health it is important to promote the use of e-cigarettes, NRT and other non-tobacco nicotine products as widely as possible as substitutes for smoking in the UK.” According to the NHS, thousands of people in the United Kingdom have stopped smoking with the help of vaping devices.
